Intraluminal (gut) pressure transducer and amplifier and bladder pressure to audio tone converter for electroceuticals project
If your project requires an unusual piece of laboratory instrumentation, but commonly available equipment does not quite fit the bill, or is associated with long lead-times, high prices, and/or import problems, then NDimension could supply the answer. We specialise in bespoke electronic instrumentation that does EXACTLY what YOU want it to, often as a ‘one-off’. To keep prices and weight low and delivery times short, it is often possible to produce an item in a battery-powered format, which also aids portability and allows field use. We are happy to make site visits in order to discuss your requirements, or of course, you could pay us a visit…
Prototype instrumented double MEA mini-bioincubator. Environmental control ([CO2], temperature, relative humidity), substance administration, micro-sampling and feeding possible during long-term recording OUTSIDE of a traditional CO2 incubator
NDimension designs and fabricates a range of mini-bioincubators that can remove the need to continuously transfer your tissue/cell cultures in-and-out of large, traditional laboratory CO2 incubators. This can be immensely helpful, especially with neural cultures whose spontaneous network activity is vulnerable to such disturbance. In-built instrumentation and a range of access ports facilitate substance administration, micro-sampling and even feeding while maintaining environmental control and sterility. These features make long-term continuous electrophysiological and/or optical recordings possible without the need for large environmental enclosures.
Enamel-insulated hook/cuff stimulating electrodes for peripheral nerves
We can supply a large range of stimulating and recording electrodes/microelectrodes to your exact specifications. Different core conductor materials are available (e.g., stainless steel, tungsten, platinum, Elgiloy), together with a variety of recording surfaces (e.g., Ag/AgCl, gold and platinum black). This is complemented by a range of insulation materials (e.g., Epoxylite and other resins/varnishes, glass, enamel, and soon, more biocompatible coatings, such as Parylene-C). Tip configurations, impedance values and connector types are also guided by your specific requirements.
For in vivo work, chronically implantable disk ECoG (including sub-dural), EOG (pellet) and EMG electrodes have been successfully and repeatedly supplied, allowing high-quality, stable recordings of extreme longevity when compared to some much more expensive offerings.
Small, benchtop square-section tubular frame and mesh Faraday cage
RF noise is the arch nemesis of electrophysiological investigations, but suitable shielding is often either massively expensive and/or awkward to arrange when laboratory space is at a premium. Our answer is to fabricate Faraday cages to exactly meet your requirements, often after a detailed site visit. A wide variety of frame type/shielding material combinations are available, as are the position of internal shelving and mounting brackets. Essential peripheral services, such as perfusion systems, extra lighting (‘cold lights’, safe lights) and ‘grounding solutions’ that actually avoid ground loops can also be supplied. Final on-site assembly is often requested, thus avoiding design restrictions due to limited laboratory access.
