HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT

NDimension has the ability to conduct synergistic studies at the level of neural networks , using different multi-electrode array platforms, and single cells, utilising patch clamp techniques. Electrophysiological recordings may be obtained from cultured CNS neurons, hiPSC-derived neurons (including patient-specific), brain/spinal cord slices, and various sensory cells (pain: DRGs; auditory: spiral ganglion neurons and cochlear hair cells; ophthalmic: rodent and donated human retinal explants and hiPSC-derived retinal organoids).

In addition, we are currently developing capabilities to work with other excitable tissues (cardiac, detrusor smooth muscle, pancreatic β-cells/islets of Langerhans), genetically tractable model organisms (Drosophila melanogaster), and various cancer cells.

Notably, our laboratories are located in the centre of the rapidly developing and globally important Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the home of Addenbrooke’s and Papworth Hospitals, and a short walk from the site of the Cambridge South Railway Station, which will not only have direct links to Oxford, via the newly approved East West Rail Route, but also to Central London, Stansted Airport, and therefore Europe.
